Staycation | Spring Break 2012 | Los Angeles, Ca.

Spring Break, kids get cabin fever and so do us parents. Born & raised in Orange County we decided to take the kids and head up to Los Angeles and spend 2 days exploring and doing whatever we felt like. So we headed up there and went straight to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The kids had fun looking at all the hand & foot prints. It was pretty interesting to see who had big and small hands and feet and everyone that actually had imprints. We had lunch and just walked all over that area, stopped in Ripley’s Believe it or Not! and then went into Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We had a blast checking out all the celebrities and seeing the good & the bad. Some really look believable and some not so much LOL. We had fun laughing about the bad ones, some, the kids had no clue who they even were hahaha made me feel old:( After the wax museum we headed to downtown to check into our hotel, The Hilton Downtown. My son wanted to go swimming so he swam for a bit on the rooftop pool, pretty cool. Then we headed to the Griffith Observatory to check out the views and we were able to see Venus. So cool to be up so high and see the city and be fairly close to the Hollywood sign.

The next day we had breakfast at The Original Pantry Cafe and then we headed out to the Fashion District,  while daughter and I shopped the guys hung out and did their own thing. It was fun to walk around and see all the things the stores had to offer. Daughter got a shirt and I picked up son some Pokemon’ cards and as soon as I got back to the car and gave them to him he informed me they were fake, hahahaha. I should have know but we all got some good laughs out of it. After the fashion district we headed out to the Natural History Museum, it was super cool and we all LOVED it!! Daughter beforehand thought it would be super boring because she did not know what it was about but we were not in there for 2 seconds and she loved it!! Cool animals and big Dino’s, gems, minerals and so much more. From there we headed into Chinatown and we had so much fun looking at all the little shops and buying many trinkets. Kids thought it was cool because the shops offered stuff you don’t see everyday.

We all agreed this little trip was so much fun! Just the little break we needed, now we just have to wait until summer to plan out next adventure.

Pesek Family | Orange County, Ca. | Marine Family in Open Field | by Amy Bell Photography

I was so excited when Mom, Katrina, contacted me looking for family photos and then added in that her Husband would be in Marine Dress Blues. I was so excited because instantly I could envision the photos.

The dad, Brad, is stationed in Hawaii and was coming home for a week and I had the honor of capturing the love this family has during that week. They won’t be together again until the end of the year because Brad will leaving on missions and as soon as next week. So I was really excited to share in their special time together as a family. You can tell the kids adore their Dad and cherished their time with him.

Leading up to the shoot Katrina and I bounced different ideas off of each other and she was texting me and sending me outfit combinations and it was fun working together to come up with the vision for their pictures. The location was perfect to compliment the look and really make them standout. A man in uniform sure does look mighty good, don’t you agree?

At the time this photo was taken no one knew that the little girl decided to salute except me, she did it on her own and I about melted.

I have been dying to show off Miss Taylor’s photo’s from her Senior session! How stunning is she? She was a natural and her inner model just came out! Her eyes spoke volumes and are beautiful! Did I happen to mention she is my little sister?  We had fun shooting and may have even heard some dinosaur noises at the end of our shoot. Hahahahaha

Before the shoot I had asked her to get together some outfits and she said she didn’t have any clothes yet somehow I have seen a ton of clothes on the floor of her room when I went to their house previously. So what is a big sister to do, so I text her mom and say Tay said she has no clothes and needs a shopping spree. I get the green light and the night before her shoot I take her on a shopping extravaganza. Did I mention she doesn’t really like to shop…..so I picked out everything and she said yay or nay and then we tried it all on and in 2.5 hours we did some nice damage.  It was so fun spending time with my little sister and capturing how gorgeous she is, inside and out!!  I can’t believe she is 18 and gonna graduate this year. Seems like yesterday that she was just a baby.

Baby Ryan | 3 weeks old | Orange County, Ca. | by Amy Bell

I have had the pleasure of photographing this family since Momma was pregnant with Baby Ryan’s older brother and have captured all the milestones. Maternity, Newborn, 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo, Baptism, 12 Mo & Family Portraits and back to newborn…..All that within the last 2 years. It has been awesome to see older brother Joey grow into a little man and now become a Big Brother.

Baby Ryan had a rough start and had to be in the NICU for a few weeks but is now doing GREAT. I was a little concerned how the session would go because the best time to photograph a newborn is the first 7-10 days of life and Baby Ryan was 3 weeks old when we were finally able to take them. However, he was probably the best and most sleepy newborn I have had. He would let us just move him around and he would just fall right back asleep. He may have accidentally peed on Momma when she was holding him….hahahaha we had a good laugh. It happen’s!!  Here are some of my favorite images from his session.
